The Young family migrated from Wales, England 200 years ago and settled in what is now Yancey County, North Carolina. They moved north up the Appalachian mountain chain and eventually settled at the foot of Hump Mountain, which is now the headwaters of Big Horse Creek which feed into the North Toe River. After 10 generations and many questionable characters we are still growing hogs and chickens the way our ancestors did only now we are doing it at the mouth of Big Horse Creek located in Minneapolis North Carolina. Staying in the same town for ten generations roots you to the town and it’s people. It is easier to pass knowledge and wisdom from generation to generation when you stay close. This is where we have gotten the practices that we follow today to raise our animals.
